PRA-RANCANGAN PABRIK MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE (MCC) DARI TONGKOL JAGUNG DENGAN METODE HIDROLISIS ASAM KAPASITAS 8.000 TON/TAHUN
Abstract
Design of Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) plant from corn cob with production capacity of 8,000 tons/year. The raw material used is biomass from corn cobs which is focused on its cellulose content. The method used in this plant is acid hydrolysis with the help of HCl catalyst to help the process of removing amorphous areas in cellulose. The plant will be established on a vacant land area in Remen, Jenu District, Tuban Regency, East Java, with a production time of 330 days/year. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a total of 166 employees consisting of shift and non-shift employees. The production process consists of raw material preparation, steam explosion process, delignification, bleaching, acid hydrolysis, and drying. The hydrolysis reaction takes place in a CSTR reactor with operating conditions of 80°C and 1 atm pressure for 15 minutes. Product drying is carried out in a spray dryer that supplies dry air with the help of a heater, so as to obtain an MCC product yield of 91.77%. Based on the economic evaluation, the calculation results of the payback period of 3.7 years, the payback rate of 16.385%, and the Break Event Point (BEP) of 52.12% were obtained.
