Smelter Grade Alumina (Al2O3) or alumina is a component that is generally used as raw material for making aluminum. The design of this factory will be established in Mempawah Regency, West Borneo with an area of 32.000 m2. This factory will be established in the form of a Limited Liability Company (LLC) with a total of 300 employees. Alumina is a reaction product from bauxite and NaOH in 3 stages, namely digestion, precipitation and calcination. Bauxite comes from PT Aneka Tambang and NaOH from PT Asahimas Chemical. Bauxite and NaOH are mixed in a Digestion Reactor to form Sodium Aluminate (NaAlO2), then the red mud content is separated and deposited in a Precipitation Tank to produce Alumina Hydroxide (Al(OH)3), which is finally heated using the calcination method to obtain Alumina (Al2O3) The main alumina product has a purity of 99.8% with a production capacity of 350,000 tons/year. Based on the results of the economic evaluation, the Pay Out Time (POT) value was 4 years, the ROI was 21% and the Break Even Point (BEP) value was 48%. The net profit from product sales was IDR 23.669.509.957. Based on the results of the economic evaluation, it can be concluded that the SGA factory from bauxite and NaOH is feasible to establish.
