Abstract

Choosing an inaccurate waste transportation route will increase operational costs, so further studies are needed on this issue. This study aims to analyze the waste transportation system in Pelaihari city and optimize the waste transportation route in Pelaihari city by using a Geographic Information System (GIS). Determination of the optimization route is carried out with a scenario of determining alternative routes and adding routes. Determination of alternative paths is done by analyzing the network using the GIS application. Optimization of garbage routes in this study uses GIS with the help of the Network Analyst (NA) feature. Based on the results of the analysis of the diversion of the existing route, it can reduce the distance of SCS transportation from 117.91 km to 73.78 km and HSC transportation from 76.74 km to 73.10 km. Reducing the number of fleets reduces Vehicle Operating Costs (BOK) to IDR 1,748,472,909 per year.
